Alumina ceramics are categorized into two distinct types: High Purity and Normal Type.
High-Purity Alumina Ceramics: Featuring Al2O3 content exceeding 99.9%, these ceramics are sintered at temperatures ranging from 1650 to 1990°C, with transmission wavelengths between 1 to 6 μm. Consequently, molten glass often substitutes platinum crucibles. Their resistance to chemical and alkali corrosion makes them ideal as sodium lamp enclosures, integrated circuit substrates, and high-frequency insulation materials in the electronics industry.
Ordinary Alumina Ceramics: Classifications include 99, 95, 90, and 85 porcelain, based on Al2O3 content, sometimes extending to 80% or 75%. Among these, 99 alumina ceramics are utilized for high-temperature crucibles, refractory furnace tubes, and specialized wear-resistant applications like ceramic bearings, seals, and water valve sheets. The 95 alumina ceramics serve primarily as corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant components. Additionally, the inclusion of talc enhances electrical properties and mechanical strength, allowing sealing with metals such as molybdenum, niobium, and tantalum, and usage in electric vacuum devices.
